➤ All COUNTY GOVERNMENT OFFICES will be closed noon on Friday, Dec. 22, reopening on Wednesday, Dec. 27; and closed Jan.1 and Jan. 2 for the New Year’s holiday, reopening Wednesday, Jan. 3.

➤ UNION BANK & TRUST and BB&T in Flint Hill will be closed on Monday, Dec.

25, for the Christmas holiday, reopening Tuesday, Dec. 26; and closed New Year’s Day, Monday, Jan. 1, reopening Tuesday, Jan. 2.

➤ RAPPAHANNO­CK RAPIDAN COMMUNITY SERVICES transporta­tion will not operate on Friday, Dec. 22; Monday, Dec. 25; and Tuesday, Dec. 26, in observance of Christmas.

➤ The RAPPAHANNO­CK NEWS will be closed Monday through Friday, Dec. 25-29, for the Christmas vacation, closed Monday, Jan. 1, reopening on Tuesday, Jan. 2. There will be no newspaper published next Thursday, Dec. 28.

➤ BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS meets at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 27, at the Rappahanno­ck County Courthouse, 250 Gay Street, Washington.

➤ The PLANNING COMMISSION of the Town of Washington will hold its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, Dec. 27, at 7 p.m. at Town Hall. Highlights from the agenda include a review of the September meeting minutes and a review of the Town Zoning Ordinances.

➤ NORTHERN PIEDMONT BEEKEEPERS ASSOCIATIO­N (NPBA) hosts a seven-week session for those interested in becoming beekeepers. Classes begin Feb. 6, and continue from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays in Rixeyville. The class “Meetand-Greet” is 2 to 4 p.m. on Feb. 4. Texts, handouts and a one-year membership in NPBA are included in the course fee of $100 per person or family. Preregistr­ation required.
