➤ The Town of Washington’s
PLANNING COMMISSION meets Monday, April 20, at 7 p.m. at Town Hall. Highlights from the agenda include the start of the Zoning Ordinance review and a general discussion of Boundary Line Adjustments.
➤ The Town of Washington is looking for letters of interest from Town residents interested in being appointed to the Town’s ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW BOARD. Letters must be received by May 14, by close of business, at Town Hall to be considered for appointment at the May 14, Town Council meeting.
➤ The TOWN OF WASHINGTON has set up five task forces to address issues of importance for the future. These tasks forces address Infrastructure (water, sewer, roads, lighting, sidewalks, etc.); Business Development (to attract and retain businesses); Tourism Development (to attract and enhance visits bynon-Town residents); Housing (as a step towards meeting a more stable population in the Town); and Finance and Administration (to assess administrative needs, finances, and interact with various state and local administrations.) The Town Council will be holding an Organization meeting of the joint task forces on Monday, May 7, at 7 p.m. at Town Hall. Thereafter each task force will meet independently in public session to be published in the Rappahannock News. All meetings are open to the public.
➤ The RAPPAHANNOCKRAPIDAN REGIONAL COMMISSION meets at
1 p.m. on April 25 at the Commission offices located at 420 Southridge Parkway, Suite 106, Culpeper. The agenda and associated materials are available one week in advance of the meeting at the RRRC offices and online at www. rrregion.org.
The VIRGINIA ASSOCIATION OF VOLUNTEER RESCUE SQUADS will be holding a Vehicle Rescue Awareness and Operations class at the Flint Hill Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department on Saturday, April 28, and Sunday, April 29, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information and registration visit www.vavrs.com or the Flint Hill Facebook page.
➤ 2018 PERSONAL PROPERTY RETURNS have been mailed and are due by May 1, 2018. If you did not receive a return, please contact the Commissioner of the Revenue at (540) 675-5370.
➤ Fauquier Hospital will host a new support group called HELPING HANDS at 3:30 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month. The next meeting will be on May 2. All sessions will be held in the hospital’s Chestnut Room. The group is for those 18 and older who suffer from a life-limiting illness or chronic pain. The intent is for the group to be educational, but also offer an opportunity for participants to talk about feelings and issues. ➤ The Rappahannock Extension office invites all to attend a series of INORCHARD MEETINGS scheduled for May, June and July. Meet at the host orchard at 11 a.m. for a tour of the orchard, followed by a discussion of current orchard management recommendations.
