Evelyn Kerr

-

Evelyn Kerr, a tireless champion of all that is beautiful and right, entered her rest on Friday evening, June 1, 2018, at her home in Castleton, VA. She was 71. She is remembered for her deep devotion to family, the many ways she uplifted her community, and an enduring faith that was her motivation for both. Her appreciation for beauty was lived out in every dimension of her life, including her pastimes and professional involvements. It included membership in area garden clubs and election as a Director of the Culpeper Soil and Water Conservation District, representing Rappahannock County. She and her husband, David, were early supporters, ushers, and frequent patrons of the Castleton Festival. Evelyn was well-traveled, well-read, and highly competitive. Friends found her able to offer travel tips and memories from Thailand to Italy or to cite sources from the Classics to Twitter in conversations, columns, and letters-to-editors. For many years, her competitive spirt was demonstrated on tennis courts across the region. In later years, it was evident in her political leadership, including as Chair of the Rappahannock County Republican Committee. A deep love of the good things in life came from her love of life itself, and devotion to its Maker. Baptized Evelyn Marie, the daughter of Virgil and Elinor Triplett Everhart, she would go on to be an early parishioner of St. Peter Catholic Church in Washington, VA where she taught religious education. She was the wife of David Kerr from June 7, 1975 until her death, and the mother of three children (Christopher Matthew and his wife Diana of Ashburn, VA; CariAnne and her husband Daryl Kreml of Sudbury, MA; and Keirsten Davena and her husband Paul Brown of Amissville, VA). She was the proud grandmother of eleven grandchildren. Evelyn Kerr was a lifelong champion of the sanctity of life. In her death, she has requested that contributions in her memory be made to Warrenton Pregnancy Center, 400 Holiday Court, Suite 101, Warrenton, VA 20186 (www.warrentonpregnancycenter.org). A visitation will be Wednesday, June 6, 2018 from 6-8pm at Moser Funeral Home, Warrenton, VA (540-347-3431). A Funeral Mass will take place Thursday, June 7, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 271 Winchester St., Warrenton, VA 20186. A burial and reception will follow at St. Peter Catholic Church and Cemetery, 12762 Lee Hwy, Washington, VA. Online condolences can be made at moserfuneralhome.com.
