Sandra Richter

Sandra was born on May 19, 1943 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to the late Louis and Dorothea Stone. She retired as a Colonel from The United States Army in 1989. She loved animals showed champion AKC Dobermans, which she also bred. She graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1961 where she was actively involved with many activities including editor of the Little Dodger Paper, a member of the debate team and a member of the National Honor Society. She then furthered her education at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa and graduated in 1965. Upon graduation she started teaching history at St. Mary's, a girl's school in Faribault, Minnesota. She taught there four years, and while there furthered her education by getting a Masters Degree from Mankato State University. In August 1969, she enlisted in the Army as a Lieutenant. While in the Army, she earned her Doctorate Degree. She was promoted on several occasions earning several ribbons, medals and commendations. She was assigned various levels of command and leadership and performed these duties in an exemplary manner. She served in Belgium, Korea, Germany, Washington State, Anniston, Alabama, Kansas and her last tour of duty was the pentagon in Washington, DC at which time she was promoted to Colonel. She was married to Michael Richter while in the Army in June of 1973. They were later divorced. Survivors include her sister, Sally J. Bond (Jim) of Oelwein, Iowa; nephew, Matt J. Scott (Lisa) and great niece, Morgan Scott all of Jesup, Iowa. She is also survived by many friends and associates in the Dog Show circuit.
