San­dra was born on May 19, 1943 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to the late Louis and Dorothea Stone. She re­tired as a Colonel from The United States Army in 1989. She loved an­i­mals showed cham­pion AKC Dober­mans, which she also bred. She grad­u­ated from Fort Dodge High School in 1961 where she was ac­tively in­volved with many ac­tiv­i­ties in­clud­ing ed­i­tor of the Lit­tle Dodger Pa­per, a mem­ber of the de­bate team and a mem­ber of the Na­tional Honor So­ci­ety. She then fur­thered her ed­u­ca­tion at Iowa State Univer­sity in Ames, Iowa and grad­u­ated in 1965. Upon grad­u­a­tion she started teach­ing his­tory at St. Mary's, a girl's school in Farib­ault, Min­nesota. She taught there four years, and while there fur­thered her ed­u­ca­tion by get­ting a Mas­ters De­gree from Mankato State Univer­sity. In Au­gust 1969, she en­listed in the Army as a Lieu­tenant. While in the Army, she earned her Doc­tor­ate De­gree. She was pro­moted on sev­eral oc­ca­sions earn­ing sev­eral rib­bons, medals and com­men­da­tions. She was as­signed var­i­ous lev­els of com­mand and lead­er­ship and per­formed th­ese du­ties in an ex­em­plary man­ner. She served in Bel­gium, Korea, Ger­many, Wash­ing­ton State, An­nis­ton, Alabama, Kansas and her last tour of duty was the pen­tagon in Wash­ing­ton, DC at which time she was pro­moted to Colonel. She was mar­ried to Michael Richter while in the Army in June of 1973. They were later di­vorced. Sur­vivors in­clude her sis­ter, Sally J. Bond (Jim) of Oel­wein, Iowa; nephew, Matt J. Scott (Lisa) and great niece, Mor­gan Scott all of Je­sup, Iowa. She is also sur­vived by many friends and as­so­ciates in the Dog Show cir­cuit.
