➤ RAAC'S MITCHELL ARTS FUND is holding a grant workshop on Saturday, Dec. 8, from 10 a.m. until noon at the Rappahanno­ck County Public Library. All past and prospectiv­e applicants are encouraged to attend. Members of the Mitchell Arts Fund committee will go over 2019 grant applicatio­n and new guidelines and will answer questions about submitting a proposal. Applicatio­n and guidelines for 2019 grants will be available Dec. 1 on RAAC’s website, raac.org. Since 2012, RAAC has awarded $209,000 to 56 Rappahanno­ck artists and organizati­ons — inspiring art and building community!

➤ The Town of Washington TOWN COUNCIL meets on Monday, Dec. 10, at Town Hall at 7 p.m. Highlights from the agenda include: a Public Hearing for the purpose of considerin­g and authorizin­g and entering into a contract for the sale of the lot owned by the Town of Washington containing 0.5853 acres, Tax Map 20A 1-119, for the purchase price of $135,000 so as to permit the constructi­on of a new post office and Article 1-4-1 of the Town Zoning Ordinance to add subarticle k. as follows: “k. Post offices and related postal services” so as to permit by special use permit post offices and postal related services in every zoning district of the Town and If the foregoing subarticle k. amendment be adopted, considerat­ion of a special use permit in accordance with the new Article 1-4-1k. to permit a post office and postal related services of 5853 acres, Tax Map 20A-1-119, a review of and possible authorizat­ion of a public hearing on the Eatman/ Eagle applicatio­n on the Vacation of the Gay Street Stub Street request, considerat­ion and possible authorizat­ion of a Joint Public Hearing with the Planning Commission on a Drafted Planned Unit Developmen­t Ordinance, an alternativ­e Town office space review, a discussion and setting of the related postal services, a joint public hearing with the Planning Commission on a re-zoning amendment to Treasurer’s salary, and the announceme­nt of a Planning Commission vacancy. Also new elected officials will be sworn in effective Jan. 1, 2019.

➤ The Town of Washington PLANNING COMMISSION meets on Monday, Dec. 10, at 5:30 p.m., at Town Hall to review the Draft Planned Unit Developmen­t Ordinance.

➤ RAPPAHANNO­CK COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD meets on Dec. 11, at 6:30 p.m., in the band room of the high school.

➤ The Town of Washington ARCHITECTU­RAL REVIEW BOARD has cancelled the regularly scheduled meeting of Wednesday, Dec. 12.

➤ The RAPPAHANNO­CKRAPIDAN REGIONAL COMMISSION meets at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 12, at the Commission offices located at 420 Southridge Parkway, Suite 106, Culpeper.

➤ The RAPPAHANNO­CK COUNTY WATER AND SEWER AUTHORITY (RCWSA) meets at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday Dec. 13, at the Town Hall, 485 Gay Street, Washington.
