JoAnne M. Mann, 66, passed away peace­fully on De­cem­ber 22, 2018, at the Cap­i­tal Car­ing - Adler Cen­ter for Car­ing (Hos­pice) in Aldie, Vir­ginia fol­low­ing a bat­tle with can­cer. A Cel­e­bra­tion of Life me­mo­rial ser­vice is planned for early spring near Rappahannock County, Vir­ginia. JoAnne was born in Ne­wark, New Jer­sey and grew up in Liv­ingston, New Jer­sey. She worked for Esso/Exxon in Florham Park, New Jer­sey as an ex­ec­u­tive sec­re­tary from 1971 to 1978 where she met her hus­band, Bob Mann. She and Bob lived in Ch­ester, New Jer­sey un­til 2000 ex­cept when out on Exxon as­sign­ments to Eng­land and South­ern Cal­i­for­nia. In 2000, they moved to Clifton, Vir­ginia where they fin­ished rais­ing their chil­dren. JoAnne and Bob then moved in 2015 to their “re­tire­ment” home in Flint Hill, Vir­ginia over­look­ing the Shenan­doah Na­tional Park. JoAnne loved to be out­side work­ing in her flower gar­dens. She also loved hik­ing, kayak­ing, and snow­shoe­ing when she wasn’t spend­ing time do­ing cross-stitch­ing projects. JoAnne is sur­vived by her hus­band Bob, her daugh­ter Jen­nifer Mann and her fi­ancé Ryan Cham­bers of New Cas­tle, Delaware, and her son Christo­pher Mann and his wife Shikha Seth and their twin girls Rhia and Calina of El Se­gundo, Cal­i­for­nia. She is also sur­vived by her sis­ter Lynne Palermo and brother-in­law Tom Palermo of Gar­net Val­ley, Penn­syl­va­nia, her brother John Deliduka of Leav­en­worth, Wash­ing­ton, and her sis­ter-in­law Janet Mann of Freeport, New York. JoAnne was an in­spi­ra­tion to oth­ers as she trav­eled through her jour­ney with can­cer for the last twelve years. She al­ways brought out the best in the peo­ple she met. JoAnne told all her friends not to mourn her pass­ing but to think of her with smiles on their faces when she is gone.
