Sharon “Sherry” Hamill-Huff carries the fire-engine-red urn containing the remains of her late husband, longtime Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Co. Chief and President Frank Huff, following a well-attended salute in his honor Saturday at Rappahannock County High School. Huff trained many of Rappahannock's top fire and rescue personnel, who took turns sharing memories of the devoted firefighter.

For more than 20 years Huff was the chief of the Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Co., most recently serving as its president. “He would have been very pleased,” his widow Sharon “Sherry” Hamill-Huff told the Rappahannock News, after carrying her husband’s remains in a procession of firefighters [1] — which included son, Robert, who held his father’s fire helmet — from the auditorium where the fire and red she urn rescue climbed to in her a vehicles waiting lap into during Flint the back front Hill a to procession firehouse fire seat truck, and of and held a reception [2]. Huff’s lifelong passion was fire and rescue, having officially joined Flint Hill Fire and Rescue as soon as he turned 16, although he spent many hours at the station before that time. For a time he took on the duties of Deputy Emergency Services Coordinator for Rappahannock County. Sherry will carry on her husband’s legacy, now holding the title of president of the fire company.
