➤ LEE-JACKSON DAY: All Rappahanno­ck County government offices will be closed in observance of Lee-Jackson Day on Friday, Jan. 18. and Monday, Jan. 21. Rappahanno­ck public schools and banks will be closed Monday, Jan. 21.

➤ The RAPPAHANNO­CK COUNTY WATER & SEWER AUTHORITY (RCWSA) meets at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 17, at the Town Hall, Washington.

➤ RAPPAHANNO­CK RAPIDAN COMMUNITY SERVICES transporta­tion will not operate on Friday, Jan. 18, and Monday, Jan. 21, in observance of Lee-Jackson Day and Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

➤ The RAPPAHANNO­CK ANIMAL WELFARE LEAGUE (RAWL) will hold its annual meeting at the Rappahanno­ck County Library, 6:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 28, in the Jamieson Room. This meeting is open to the public, and topics of discussion will include a summary of 2018 activity and achievemen­ts, as well as goals for RAWL in 2019. ➤ REGISTER FOR SUMMER ACTIVITIES: The 2019 Rappahanno­ck County Summer Programs’ Registrati­on Fair will be held Friday, Feb. 1, from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Rappahanno­ck County Elementary School’s Auxiliary Gym (behind the school). Registrati­ons will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Those who are unable to register in person are encouraged to have someone submit their registrati­ons on their behalf. ➤ RAPPAHANNO­CK COUNTY SOCCER ASSOCIATIO­N (RCSA) registrati­on is open for Spring 2019! We offer programs for girls and boys born years 2005-2014. Early registrati­on discount runs through Feb. 4. ➤ NORTHERN PIEDMONT BEEKEEPERS ASSN (NPBA) hosts a seven-week session for those interested in becoming beekeepers. Classes begin Feb. 5, and continue from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays at Verdun Adventure Bound in Rixeyville. Class “Meet-and-Greet” is 2 to 4 p.m. on Feb. 3. ➤ Classes in beginning floral design, sponsored by the RAPPAHANNO­CK COUNTY GARDEN CLUB, will be held for four consecutiv­e Wednesdays in February, beginning Wednesday, Feb 6. Classes will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church Parish Hall in Washington, at 11 am. Participan­ts will bring their own materials. The cost is $30 for 4 classes or $10 per class.
