Rapp biz own­ers talk ads, mar­ket­ing

A Busi­nesses of Rap­pa­han­nock-Rap­pa­han­nock News sem­i­nar on Tues­day sur­round­ing suc­cess­ful ad­ver­tis­ing and mar­ket­ing tips and tricks drew a crowd of three dozen to the Rap­pa­han­nock County Li­brary. Among other top­ics, BOR Pres­i­dent Theresa Wood and Rap­pa­han­nock Me­dia Chief Oper­at­ing Of­fi­cer Bruce Pot­ter dis­cussed with small busi­ness own­ers where best to ad­ver­tise in the print, broad­cast and on­line mar­kets, the im­por­tance of well­writ­ten copy and photograph­y, and com­pil­ing me­dia kits. Pot­ter told BOR mem­bers that ads should be sim­ple and to the point. A per­son’s at­ten­tion span, the COO ob­served, has gone from 12 sec­onds to 8 sec­onds — shorter than the scru­tiny of a gold­fish.
