Fed by an eclectic potluck picnic and led by Lion Tamer Bob Anderson, the Rappahannock Lions Club inducted a new slate of officers for 2019-2020 at the county shelter on a recent Thursday night.

Leading the Lions is new president Bill Nenninger, who has recently volunteered to lead the club’s important sight and vision testing services. Joining him are: First vice president Gary Giebel; second vice president Ed Dorsey; third vice president Rudy Segaar. Continuing in important roles are secretary Jim Manwaring and treasurer Frank Raiter. Directors: Bill Pumphrey and Bill Pragluski, one year; Scott Wells and Ross O’Donoghue, two years. Membership chair is Richard Antony. Jim Blubaugh is the foundation representative. Paul Bush is Tail Twister and Anderson, one of the club’s longest-serving members, is Lion Tamer.

Nenninger subsequently took the gavel for the first time at the club’s regular Thursday, July 25 meeting at the Sperryville Volunteer Fire Hall.

“As incoming president, my goal is to continue the many service programs the Lions provide the Rappahannock community,’ he said. “Whether it is conducting vision testing for young students, hosting the Bland music concert, giving out scholarship awards to high school graduates, helping out the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, the 4-H Club and Camp Fantastic, our highly motivated Lions members are dedicated to volunteering their time and talent to these causes. I am honored to lead our club in the coming year. And of course, we are always looking for new members to join us in participating in these important community activities (rantony@ieeee. org).”
