The Rap­pa­han­nock Gar­den Club will meet on Wed­nes­day, Aug 21 at the Washington fire house. The speaker will be Thomas Baughn, pres­i­dent of the Fauquier/Rap­pa­han­nock County Mas­ter Gar­den­ers. Baughn will speak about the ben­e­fits of us­ing rain bar­rels for gar­den­ing pur­poses. The Gar­den Club meets at 1:30 p.m., the pro­gram will start at 2 p.m. The pub­lic is wel­come.

The Sper­ryville Com­mu­nity Foun­da­tion is host­ing a Sper­ryville com­mu­nity meet­ing on Wed­nes­day, Aug. 28 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Stonewall Abbey, 44 Main Street on Sper­ryville’s His­toric Main Street. The pur­pose of the meet­ing is for com­mu­nity res­i­dents to share ideas on how to achieve traf­fic calm­ing and im­prove pedes­trian safety in the vil­lage of Sper­ryville.

Rap­pa­han­nock-Rap­i­dan Re­gional Com­mis­sion will meet on Wed­nes­day, Aug. 28, at 1 p.m. at the Re­gional Com­mis­sion of­fices in Culpeper. The agenda and sup­port­ing ma­te­ri­als are posted to the Com­mis­sion website one week in ad­vance of the meet­ing.

Join us at the home of Bev Jones and Andy Alexan­der for the an­nual Foothills Fo­rum meet­ing on Fri­day, Sept. 27, at Buck­eye Farm, 54 Pophams Ford Road, from 5 to 7 p.m. for an evening of wine and heavy hors d’oeu­vres. En­joy time with fel­low Rap­pa­han­nock neigh­bors, lo­cal jour­nal­ists, and the greater Foothills com­mu­nity.

Lucy Russo will be fa­cil­i­tat­ing a monthly meet­ing of writ­ers who want to learn about new pub­lish­ing in­for­ma­tion. The group will also share help­ful in­for­ma­tion about re­sources or so­cial me­dia sites, of­fer edit­ing tips, list re­sources to check out and places to post their works. All meet­ings are in the con­fer­ence room at the Culpeper County Li­brary. The evening meet­ings are the sec­ond Mon­day of ev­ery month from 5 to 7 p.m. and the morn­ing meet­ings are on the sec­ond Tues­day of ev­ery month from 10 a.m. to noon. Women in Wor­ship (WIW) Min­istries is pleased to an­nounce the 2019 “EX­CEL” Hon­ors are open for nom­i­na­tions. Af­ter the nom­i­na­tions process is com­pleted and the 2019 hon­orees have been named, an hon­ors lun­cheon will be held on Oct. 26, at the Daniel Cen­ter, Culpeper.
