County schools wel­come new RCES as­sis­tant prin­ci­pal

Lisa Gates has joined the Rap­pa­han­nock County Pub­lic Schools fam­ily.

Gates will be serv­ing as the new as­sis­tant prin­ci­pal, work­ing along­side Rap­pa­han­nock County Ele­men­tary School Prin­ci­pal Ben­jamin Temple.

Gates, a grad­u­ate of Con­cord Univer­sity and Old Do­min­ion Univer­sity, pre­vi­ously worked in Wythe County as a kinder­garten and first grade teacher and has a strong back­ground in reading in­struc­tion, hav­ing com­pleted reading re­cov­ery train­ing.

Upon earn­ing her Masters of Ed­u­ca­tional Ad­min­is­tra­tion, she gained valu­able ad­min­is­tra­tive ex­pe­ri­ence in the Wythe County school di­vi­sion as well. In ad­di­tion to her pas­sion for ed­u­ca­tion, she en­joys trav­el­ing, run­ning, kayak­ing, and liv­ing an ac­tive life­style with her hus­band Jeremy and six-year-old daugh­ter, Far­rah.

Gates is thank­ful for the warm and friendly wel­come from the staff.

“I love be­ing part of the RCES fam­ily,” she said. “I can’t wait to meet all the stu­dents!”
