The Castle­ton Com­mu­nity Volunteer Fire Com­pany, es­tab­lished in 1956, shows up at nu­mer­ous com­mu­nity events, of­ten ris­ing at 4:30 a.m. (fire­fight­ers and EMTs grow ac­cus­tomed to such hours) and ar­riv­ing home late at night in or­der to take ad­van­tage of large crowds and gen­er­ate funds for the fire­house. Their que­sadil­las, by the way, are de­li­cious.
