Election Day 2019 falls this year on Tuesday, Nov. 5, finding three important Board of Supervisor seats in play, as well as numerous Rappahannock County’s constitutional offices.

For starters, longtime Supervisor Ron Frazier is running unopposed for re-election in the Jackson District; with Audrey Regnery and Keir Whitson going head-tohead for the Hampton District seat left open by John Lesinski, who is running for the U.S. Congress. Debbie Donehey, meanwhile, is unopposed for the Wakefield District seat being vacated by retiring BOS Chairman Roger Welch.

Art Goff is running unopposed for re-election as commonwealth’s attorney; while Connie S. Compton similarly faces no challengers in her bid to return as sheriff. Commissioner of the Revenue Mary Graham, who was appointed in March 2019 to fill the unexpired term of Sharon Dodson, is participating in her first election, challenged by first-time candidate Lavonne Adkins. Incumbent Debra Knick is running unopposed for re-election as county treasurer.

The county School Board and Culpeper Soil and Water Conservation District also have candidates on the ballot. More on these races next week.

The Rappahannock News forwarded identical questionnaires to all of the above candidates, and their responses were edited for style and punctuation and returned to each for his/her approval. Candidates were then free to change or clarify anything in their finished profiles. What you read in this issue is what the candidates stated and approved.
