ElzieLeon Compton, “A faithful man, who can find?” Proverbs 20:6. E. Leon Compton, age 80, of Rixeyville, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, February 26, 2022. He is remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfathe­r, brother, uncle, and friend.

Leon was born in Culpeper, graduated from Culpeper County High School and worked many years in the constructi­on business. He married his loving wife, Virginia “Ginger” Bailey in 1961, and they had forty wonderful years together. Leon and Ginger were faithful members of Hope Hill Baptist Church in Castleton, where Leon served as the church treasurer for many years. All that knew Leon remember him as a man of integrity, hard work and faithfulne­ss to the Lord and his family. “Well done, thou good and faithful servant” Matt. 25:21.

Leon is survived by his son, Joe Compton and his wife Gina of Richmond, his daughter Angie Lines and her husband John of Culpeper, and his son Kenny Compton of Rixeyville. Additional survivors include five grandchild­ren and four great-grandchild­ren plus another one expected in April. Other survivors include his brother David Compton and his wife Margaret, his sister Debbie Brooks and her husband Ron, several nieces, nephews, and a multitude of friends.

Leon is preceded in death by his parents, Elzie and Ethel Compton, his loving wife, Ginger and his sister, Patricia Byfield, and his brother, Harold Compton.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 3, 2022, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryvill­e Pike, Culpeper, VA 22701.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 4, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Rev. John Lines officiatin­g. Facial coverings are suggested. The family would like to invite those unable to attend to join the service via live stream at https://view.oneroomstr­eaming.com/authorise.php?k=1646180726­170047 Interment will follow in the Compton Family Cemetery in Rixeyville. Pallbearer­s will be Joseph, Kenny, Andrew, and Mel Compton, Bill Womack, and Ryan Leas.
