Bertie Alice Pullen, 94, of Huntly, died Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at Warren Memorial Hospital. She was born February 28, 1929 in Rappahanno­ck County to the late Floyd and Josie Menefee.

Bertie was a devoted mother to all, opening her home to many children that she loved as her own. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed sewing. She also loved tending to her vegetable garden and her flowers.

She is survived by her children, Robert Lee Pullen, Jr. (Gloria), Carl Menefee (Donna), Peggy Smoot, Margie Southard (William), and David Menefee (Julie); her step daughter, Shirley Brown; two brother, Roger Menefee and James Menefee; ten grandchild­ren; ten great grandchild­ren; and five great, great grandchild­ren.

In addition to her parents, Bertie is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Pullen; one infant son, Carl William Pullen; and six siblings, Margaret Fincham, Cleveland Menefee, Oakey Lambert, Ann Layton, Earl Menefee, and Richard Menefee.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, March 20, 2023 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryvill­e Pike, Culpeper with Pastor Carl Menefee officiatin­g. Interment will follow at Washington Masonic Cemetery, Fodderstac­k Road, Washington, VA. Pallbearer­s serving the family will be Hunter Compton, Jeff Compton, Brian Compton, William Southard Jr., Keaton Menefee, Frank Robert Kaye, and James Steward.
