Integrated Mid-motor Transmission
To simplify construction, lower cost, and increase durability, the Voltage-series chassis integrates the transmission and motor plate into the two-piece “clamshell”-style chassis. The three transmission gears are stacked like other 2WD designs, but instead of hanging the motor off the back of the chassis, Arrma went for a mid-motor configuration to improve handling and protect the motor from impact. The gears are composite plastic, and the planetary-gear differential is new for the Voltage models. Notably absent is a slipper clutch to spare the drivetrain from severe strain, but the wide gears, steel dogbones, and thickly molded drive cups appear rugged.
A tough planetary-gear differential is up to the task of extreme bashing. Steel dogbones slot into plastic drive cups to spin the rear wheels.
Remove one-half of the monocoque chassis and it will expose the 3-gear transmission that rides on a complete set of ball bearings.
