Custom Chassis Construction

RC Car Action - - PROJECT -

The M1079’s chassis is a full custom design, made using 3/8-inch aluminum C-channel for the main rails. The transmission was fitted in the center with custom-designed and 3D-printed mounts made of

ABS plastic. The center skid area was designed to keep the link mounts and suspension as close to Axial Bomber rear geometry as possible since aftermarket suspension parts for the Bomber would be used to tie everything together. Battery trays were added on both sides of the chassis and hung as low as possible without sacrificing ground clearance to add some low weight and to balance the setup. The goal here was to keep the center of gravity as low as possible on the build so that the truck didn’t handle like a complete brick. The whole setup was designed around a 390mm wheelbase, which is what the full-size M1079 would be at if you scaled it down.

The battery is mounted low for stability.

The link pickup points maintain stock Axial Bomber geometry.
