More Traction
The stock rubber did a great job on the trail and did all that I would expect out of a firmrubber RTR tire; I was, however, looking for more grip. I put the stock tires aside and grabbed a set of Pro-line Hyrax tires to use as replacements. They are made out of Proline’s soft G8 rubber compound and have a tread pattern that features aggressive lugs, which are sure to get great traction on all surfaces. They come with open-cell foam inserts, but I wanted a little more traction, so I replaced the sock inserts with Pro-line’s singlestage closed-cell foam inserts. They are made to match the contour of the tire perfectly, and the grooves in them provide better support. Grooves in the inserts along with a slightly smaller diameter allow the tires to conform to surfaces better and provide improved traction. I mounted the tires and foams on Vanquish KMC aluminum wheels with red bead-lock rings.
