Now that we’re firmly planted into the New Year, have you had any thoughts on what your next projects are going to be? We’re excited about all the new releases we’re going to see this year and we’re sure we’ll get our hands on many of them to share with you throughout the year. To kick the year off right, we have a fantastic and jam packed issue for you.

One of the biggest emerging subjects in recent times are fullsized electric cars. You see them on the street and can even see them racing competitively in race series such as Formula E. The younger sibling of Formula One, FE is the electric equivalent, bringing open-wheel racing excitement to the electrified automotive world.

As fans of electrically powered RC vehicles, we are especially excited to see these full-sized battery operated racers blasting around the racetrack. Tamiya amps up our excitement for the series with their release of the TC-01 chassis. The first TC-01 drop comes in the form of a scaled down, 1/10-scale Formula E GEN2 racecar. Join us as we take one for an exhilarating spin around the track.

We also take a deep dive into Traxxas’ latest 4x4 version of their legendary Slash short course truck. The nimble truck is quick on its tires and lands jumps like a pro. Another fun vehicle that we get to visit is a customized Tamiya Comical

Hornet. See what custom parts were added to it; it may inspire a build of your own.

RTR kits are huge in the RC hobby now and there’s no secret that many of them could use some extra performance addons to help boost their fun and durability factors. Our resident tech guru, Lauren Short, runs us through what he does to bulk up his RTRS. We also bask in the glory of a complete ground up scratch build of a Winnebago car hauler and its chopped VW Beetle passenger in our Special Projects article, BUG Hauler. You won’t want to miss it.

As always, we enjoy seeing what you are doing with your RC vehicles. If you have a build you’d like to share with fellow readers, consider submitting your ride to be included into out Reader’s Rides department. You can find the easy to submit form at Rccaraction.com/readers-ride-entry-form/. It’s never been easier to submit your ride.

Until next time, Jerry Tsai Editorial Director
