Tekin’s G4 Spec-r line of brushless motors are purpose-built for all types of on-road and off-road spec racing applications. The entire line of motors is ROAR approved, can be used with both 1S and 2S Lipo batteries, and are ideally matched with Tekin’s RS SPEC line of ESC’S. G4 Spec-r motors are machined from 6061-T6 billet aluminum and are anodized for corrosion and wear resistance, are fully rebuildable, and include high RPM precision bearings throughout.

Tekin precision stamps and presses their G4 stators and winds the motors with high purity copper wiring to reduce internal resistance and increase efficiency. The G4 Spec-r line is available in 25.5T, 21.5T, 17.5T, 13.5T, 10.5T, and 6.5T to regulations for a wide range of spec racing classes.

TESTING

Tekin’s Spec-r 17.5T delivered plenty of power for our test car, the Tamiya Formula E Gen2. The Spec-r motor smoothly and reliably delivers power to the car, with a very linear power delivery overall. I didn’t notice the feeling peaky at any point in my testing, and it never felt like it was lacking power. The Spec-r just felt great, plain and simple.

Tekin’s build quality on the Spec-r motors is some of the best I’ve seen in a spec style brushless offering. The machining on the can is precise, the board and solder tabs are great quality, and the overall construction feels solid. Cooling vents cut out all along the can, which helped to keep the temps in check during testing.

After many high-speed runs around the track, with a lot of braking and acceleration in between, the motor came back only slightly warm, almost cool to the touch. Part of this is due to the fairly mild gearing on the test car, but those cooling vents still help a lot, so I can see the Spec-r line of motors doing really well even if pushed to the gearing extremes that spec-racing is known for. Tekin’s 17.5T Spec-r motor is impressive and will definitely make a great workhorse spec racing motor.
