Team Associated FT Ball Cup Wrench

Team Associated over the years has been known to release some great tools through their Factory Team lineup of products. One of their many useful tools is their FT Ball Cup Wrench. The FT Ball Cup wrench is similar to their 5.5mm and 7mm hex thumb wrenches and is purpose-designed to fit Team AE ball cups.
The FT Ball Cup Wrench is precision machined for accuracy and hard anodized for durability and the tool name is laser etched on the side for easy identification. The outer diameter of the wrench is knurled for a positive grip and includes two 3.4mm holes allowing the use of a driver shaft or hex key to lock the tool in place when needed. Overall, the wrench measures 26mm tall and 24mm in diameter at the base, and weighs less than 9 grams, making it an impressively compact and lightweight option for its purpose.
TESTING
Useful, well-designed tools are always a welcome addition to my pit box, so I was excited when Team Associated released this item. Sure, we all have tips and tricks for installing ball cups without a wrench, but nothing really replaces a tool that is purpose-built for the job. I found the ball cup portion of the tool fits perfectly on Team AE ball cups, keeping a snug grip so the cup doesn’t slip out of the tool.
As an added bonus the wrench fits ball cups from some other popular RC manufacturers, though it may not fit all. The product finish is second to none, and the knurled exterior is excellent for grip, and very much reminds me of some of my high-end real car sockets. The integrated holes on the side of the tool perfectly fit the shaft of my hex driver, which allowed me to lock the tool in place with a bit more grip and just my fingers when needed. Lastly, the compact size of the wrench means I can easily fit it in my largest pit box or my smallest travel bag and can even slip it neatly into my pocket if I need to when at the track.
