RC Car Action

Starting Line

- Until next time, Jerry Tsai Editorial Director

Who else can’t wait for spring? It’s nice to romp in the rain and snow but it’s nicer to RC out when you don’t need to wear five layers of clothing. Who’s with me on that? I for one can’t wait to get back out there in balmy weather to RC in the great outdoors. We’ve got plenty of racing, bashing and crawling to do after all.

As you can tell from the cover of this month’s issue, we’re looking to get into plenty of RC action. This issue is packed with some great content beginning with our cover story. The article is about completely upgrading the Traxxas Hoss 4x4 VXL with every single upgrade part we could get our hands on. Check out the article to see what our results are. We also take a spin in Kyosho’s Fazer Mk2 based Chevy El Camino. It really looks fantastic and its even more fun to drive.

Tamiya’s wheelie-happy Mudman is a fun treat for anyone who likes compact RC with plenty of pep. Read about it in Mad Wheelie Machine. We’re not done modding Traxxas trucks in this issue, later on we take a look at what is involved in swapping out a Slash 4x4’s chassis to a low-center of gravity set up. If you’ve been looking to do this modification, you won’t want to miss the DIY article.

If full custom RC builds are your thing, then you’ll want to check out Scott Lempert’s scratch built 1954 Ford F100 COE Tow Rig. It’s really a sight to behold. Also in this issue we visit Revelation Raceway in California and sit down to speak to Bobby Phillips, The Founder of Rcsignup.

As always, we enjoy seeing what you are doing with your RC vehicles. If you have a build you’d like to share with fellow readers, consider submitting your ride to be included into out Reader’s Rides department. You can find the easy to submit form at Rccaraction.com/readers-ride-entry-form/. It’s never been easier to submit your ride.
