Starting Line
What’s your favorite type of RC to have fun with? It may sound like a simple question, but it’s a bigger conundrum than it may seem. The world of surface bound radio control is as wide as it is and varying. From vehicle type to scale to terrain to fuel type, there’s so much to choose from. As a fellow enthusiast, I’m glad that we have this embarrassment of riches. Are you dedicated to one type of RC or does your workbench resemble a mixed mosh pit of RC goodness? I raise my hand to the second choice.
We’ve got a whole lot of RC variety in this issue for you to check out. We get behind the wheels so to speak of a powerful stadium truck, a capable crawler, a fun road-going van and a serious competition touring car. First up, you’ll get reacquainted with our Traxxas Rustler 4X4 VXL. This time we upgrade it with plenty of performance parts to kick up plenty of rocks. You’ll see what we mean in the article. On flatter ground, we get rides in a hippie-style Tamiya Volkswagen Type 2 Van nicknamed “Flower Power” and board a competition bred Yokomo touring car. You won’t want to miss them.
Join us as we take a deep dive into the latest Axial SCX10 III, the Jeep JT Gladiator. It’s a stretched out crawler that comes packed full of scale details. See why its one of the hottest crawlers around. We also get to talk to the man who guided the SCX10 III project from inception to a trail near you. Senior Product Developer for Horizon Hobby, Richard Trujillo joins us in our Profile pages. In another article, we also answer the age-old question, “How do I make my RC go faster?” Read our handy tips later on in this issue.
As always, we enjoy seeing what you are doing with your RC vehicles. If you have a build you’d like to share with fellow readers, consider submitting your ride to be included into out Reader’s Rides department. You can find the easy to submit form at Rccaraction.com/readers-ride-entry-form/. It’s never been easier to submit your ride.
