RC Car Action

Starting Line

-

Doesn’t that line get you excited to see Truck-o-saurus breathing fire and crushing cars at the stadium turned Mad Max arena? Commercials for monster truck rallies can rile up some excitement, that’s for sure. What else can top that? Your RC monster truck sure can!

In this issue of RCCA, we go deep into monster trucks. But of course, we probably didn’t need to tell you that, seeing the cover was already an obvious clue. The RPM modified X-MAXX is a sizable brute that has plenty of power to back it up. You’ll want to see what its owner did to make it the monster truck that headlines this issue.

We also look into two custom builds, one is replica of the famed monster truck Bigfoot based on a Traxxas TRX4 chassis. What? A crawler chassis with a monster truck body topping it? There’s more to that story, you’ll want to read about it later in this issue. We also revisit a classic from the 80s. Tamiya’s Midnight Pumpkin is considered a classic in all aspects, but the one featured in this issue has some restomod touches that update the venerable truck. Learn more about it in Midnight Monster.

Ride along with us as we take a spin in Axial’s Yeti Jr. Canam side by side off roader. It’s lightly modified for outdoor excursions. Also, join the Traxxas crew at Travis Pastrana’s P1 Offshore Invitational. It’s an extreme sports event that you won’t soon forget.

If you’re looking to get into painting RCS, there are a pair of articles that you need to check out. Erick “RC Patina Guy” Padilla shows off one of his latest weathered paintjobs and gives us some tips along the way. We also take a lesson from our in-house DIY-ER, Lauren Short, which covers quick and easy RC body painting.

As always, we enjoy seeing what you are doing with your RC vehicles. If you have a build you’d like to share with fellow readers, consider submitting your ride to be included into our Reader’s Rides department. You can find the easy to submit form at Rccaraction.com/readers-rides-entry-form/. It’s never been easier to submit your ride.

Until next time, Jerry Tsai Editorial Director
