Opening Doors for My Autistic Son

Reader's Digest - - Letters - DIANA DICKRADER, Holts Summit, Missouri EMILEE JASKOWIAK, Springfield, Ohio

Judith Newman has a gift for explaining the gripping love, fears, and hopes each of us with an autistic child in the family shares. As she wrote of Gus, who clearly would be best friends with my grandson, Aidan, I kept thinking, That’s it! That’s how I feel! Ms. Newman, thank you for being the articulate voice many of us lack. Much love to you and your family. This story about Gus has really blown my mind. I am autistic and work at a community job. I feel sorry for him that he was fired from his job. People with autism need to be treated fairly. I hope Gus finds a job where he will be treated fairly and be able to keep it.
