By chance, I was sent to a con­fer­ence in a nearby city. At the wel­come re­cep­tion, I reached for the same cham­pagne glass as the man stand­ing next to me. We struck up a con­ver­sa­tion un­til din­ner was called in the next room. The man asked to sit be­side me. As the waiter passed, he turned to the man and said, “Sir, what would your wife like to drink?” The man looked to me and smiled. “Dar­ling, what would you like to drink?” he asked. That was 20 years ago. We mar­ried a few years later.
