When Suzan Amoruso’s grandchildren visit, the first place they go is the library. “As soon as you come through that door, you feel like you’re the most important person in the world,” says Amoruso. It remains a beloved oasis of civility despite budget cuts that threaten the librarians’ jobs. “We have no say in the politics,” says director Patti Arkwright. “We’re just happy to serve.”
