On special person Day, fifth graders write about someone they look up to. Last year, Sammi Santacroce wrote about classmate Dante Chiappetta, a special-needs student who walks with a cane. “I’m proud of him because he never gives up,” she said. For a fund-raiser for a former student with brain cancer, dozens, including Dante, shaved their heads to raise $27,000 in donations for research.
