Can­dle Wax

NOW: Do noth­ing. Let the wax dry and it will be eas­ier to re­move later.

LATER: If it fits, place the item in the freezer for a few hours. The wax should pop right off once it’s frozen solid. If the wax has melted into the fab­ric’s fibers, use a spot re­mover (try Gonzo Nat­u­ral Magic Stain Re­mover, $7; ama­ and laun­der as usual. To tackle wax on an area rug or tablecloth, place the item be­tween two pa­per tow­els. Heat an iron on low and glide it over the top; the wax will melt and trans­fer to the pa­per towel. Be care­ful not to leave the iron in one spot for too long, as it could burn the fibers. For car­pet, set a plas­tic bag filled with ice on top of the wax un­til it hard­ens. Use a but­ter knife to scrape it up. Re­move any residue with Spot Shot In­stant Car­pet Stain Re­mover.
