Stevensville man found dead in lo­cal park­ing lot

STEVENSVILLE — Mary­land State Po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing an ap­par­ent sui­cide in the park­ing lot of a lo­cal busi­ness early Wed­nes­day.

Po­lice re­sponded shortly af­ter mid­night Oct. 10 to a 911 call re­port­ing a man lay­ing in the park­ing lot of Rams Head Shore House, 800 Main St., Stevensville. Troop­ers found a de­ceased man with a gun­shot wound lay­ing near a white pas­sen­ger ve­hi­cle in the rear park­ing lot of the busi­ness, po­lice said. One .38-cal­iber re­volver was lo­cated next to him.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors from the MSP Crim­i­nal En­force­ment Divi­sion Up­per Shore re­sponded. They iden­ti­fied the man as Michael Gan­cie, 61, of Stevensville. He had a self-in­flicted gun­shot wound to his chest, in­ves­ti­ga­tors said.

Troop­ers no­ti­fied Gan­cie’s next of kin. The in­ves­ti­ga­tion is on­go­ing.
