Bayshoresc Velocity Black’00/01 third in Premier Cup tourney
LOUDON, VA. — Olivia Owens scored four goals and dished three assists, pacing the Bayshore SC Velocity
Black’00/01 girls’ 19-andunder travel soccer team to a third-place finish this past weekend at the highly ranked Premier Cup.
Brooke Windsor added two goals and three assists, while Abby Blanchard scored a goal and dished two helpers. Caroline Shilling also scored a goal, and Lindsey Swontek notched one helper.
Bayshore defeated No.
17 Marlton GPS from New Jersey, and No. 14 Red Lion Soccer Heat from Pennsylvania, 5-0. The Velocity tied No. 9 Baltimore Bays, 1-1, and lost, 3-1, to No. 4 BRYC Academy from Virginia.
Velocity was led offensively by Swontek, Ashlyn Hastings, Mckenzie Mogel, Kylie Marsden and Taylor Demasi, and defensively by Ashley Thomas, Kayla Guthrie, Nefret Perunko, Leila Robinson, Caroline Parker, Kaitlyn Robinson and Kassidy Robinson.
Cara Cunane and Madi Banks split time in goal, posting two combined shutouts and making 19 and 22 saves, respectively.
Bayshore will travel to Lancaster, Pa. this weekend to play in the PA Classics Showcase Tournament.
Velocity Black is a Premier Showcase travel soccer team consisting of some of the top 19-and-under girls from the Eastern Shore of Maryland and Delaware, pulling from Queen Anne’s County, Kent Island, Tome, Elkton, Cambridge-south Dorchester, Parkside, James M. Bennett, Saints Peter and Paul, Salisbury Christian, Delmar, Lake Forest and Cape Henlopen high schools.
