Single father tries to provide for sons

Record Observer - - FRONT PAGE -

Logan is a single father who has had some hard times this year.

He was let go from his longtime construction job when the company he worked for had to scale back, due to a slump in the housing market.

He is a skilled carpenter, and has had several jobs lined up, worked a couple of months, then was laid off again.

Now he is working sporadically on a contractual basis and his income is hit-or-miss, with no benefits like health insurance.

His two sons, Carter, 9 and Isaac, 5, live with him. It’s just the three of them at home.

Carter is a good student at school, but his real passion is sports, especially football.

His little brother Isaac is just getting used to being in kindergarten. He loves playing with action figures.

Logan has made a point of making sure that his boys have never gone hungry, but when it comes to other necessities, they have had to go without more and more lately.

The money is just not there to buy gifts this year.

Logan would love to surprise the boys on Christmas Day with a tree and something under it for them.
