Temple invites visitors to Festival of Lights

-

KENSINGTON — The Washington, D.C., Temple, operated by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, invites the public to a drivethru Festival of Lights.

The Temple grounds will glow with over 400,000 lights from 6 to 9 p.m. nightly through Dec. 28. Visitors are invited to view the lights, accompanied by Christmas music and scriptures, from the comfort and safety of their cars.

“Like the Christmas season, the Temple reminds us that service to our fellow beings is the best way to demonstrate our love of God and #Lighttheworld, even in times of struggle or strife,” church leaders wrote on Facebook. “We hope this decades-old, beloved tradition serves as a gift of friendship and peace to our neighbors and friends.”

There will not be pedestrian access to the Temple, Visitors’ Center or adjoining grounds.
