17 seasonal pop-up shops and markets for holiday shopping in Chicago
Buying holiday gifts can feel like a chore, especially when your list includes people who are hard to shop for. Luckily, these 17 spots have made shopping season easier by hosting seasonal markets and pop-up stores where you can find a wide variety of presents, plus have some fun yourself.
Chicago-based footwear line Chinelas is running a pop-up in the Loop shopping center through Dec. 5 selling their signature comfy slippers and sandals. Give back by shopping on Nov. 30, when 10 percent of the proceeds will benefit Make-a-Wish.
Bridgeport Art Center
Renegade Craft Fair takes over the space from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 1-2, bringing together new and established crafters selling ceramics, clothing, jewelry, wallets, watches and more. The event also features food trucks, cocktails and music from local DJs. You can also come from 7 to 10 p.m. Dec. 21 to shop for works from the center’s more than 100 resident artists and then tour the space’s studios and four art galleries while enjoying complimentary
The rooftop lounge at Virgin Hotels Chicago gets decked out like a ’70s ski lounge for an Apres Ski Winter Market running from 4 to 9 p.m. Nov. 30 and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 1. Shop for home goods, apparel, jewelry, vintage records and skincare products while listening to holiday tunes spun by a rotating set of DJs. Take a break for a wine tasting from No Fine Print Wine Co. then swing by Commons Club on the hotel’s second floor, where you’ll get 20 percent off your meal with proof of purchase from the market.
