2015: Masked gun­men stormed the Paris of­fices of Char­lie Hebdo, a French news­pa­per that had car­i­ca­tured the Prophet Muham­mad, me­thod­i­cally killing 12 peo­ple be­fore es­cap­ing. (Two sus­pects were killed two days later.)
