The CHICAGO BEARS won the Na­tional Foot­ball League cham­pi­onship game against the New York Giants at the Polo Grounds in New York on Dec. 15, 1946. Ear­lier that day, a failed bribery at­tempt was an­nounced. Two Giants play­ers were even­tu­ally sus­pended.

PAPA BEAR Ge­orge Halas (cen­ter back, wav­ing) was the Bears’ owner and coach, Sid Luck­man (42) was the quar­ter­back, and Dante Mag­nani (3) was a de­fen­sive back in the 24-14 win.
