The CHICAGO BEARS won the National Football League championship game against the New York Giants at the Polo Grounds in New York on Dec. 15, 1946. Earlier that day, a failed bribery attempt was announced. Two Giants players were eventually suspended.

PAPA BEAR George Halas (center back, waving) was the Bears’ owner and coach, Sid Luckman (42) was the quarterback, and Dante Magnani (3) was a defensive back in the 24-14 win.
