Reno Cracker Barrel opening delayed in ‘final date push’
Cracker Barrel fans in Reno will need to wait at least one more month to taste its Southern fare.
The company confirmed that it has pushed back the opening of its Reno Cracker Barrel restaurant to October.
“We have encountered more delays and are looking at late next month,” spokesperson Jessica Mancuso told the Reno Gazette Journal.
It is the latest delay for the much awaited restaurant — the first Cracker Barrel in Reno. The closest Cracker Barrel location to the Biggest Little City is in Rocklin, California.
Murmurs of a Reno Cracker Barrel started in 2019 when it showed up in development plans submitted to the city. The restaurant was then officially announced in 2022 and broke ground in September that year.
Cracker Barrel initially targeted a spring 2023 opening. Record snow led to challenges during construction, however, and the opening was moved back to the summer.
By June, construction was delayed once again. Cracker Barrel noted that it was looking at a September opening but added that the date was still subject to change.
While confirming the new late October opening, however, Mancuso stated that the company hopes that “this will be the final date push.”
“I can assure you our biscuits and chicken n' dumplins are worth the wait,” Mancuso said.
Cracker Barrel is also preparing to share details on hiring and the store's special decor soon, according to Mancuso.
Known for offerings such as its Old Timer's Breakfast, meatloaf and Chicken n' Dumplins, the first Cracker Barrel Old Country Store opened in 1969 in Lebanon, Tennessee.
In addition to its restaurant, Cracker Barrel locations also feature an actual store that sells rockers, apparel and unique trinkets. Cracker Barrel has 660 stores in 45 states.
