Vehicles struck four pedestrians this weekend in Reno, killing two. Here's what we know about the incidents.
Saturday, Oct. 7
At 7:46 p.m., the Reno Police Department, Reno Fire Department and Regional Emergency Medical Services Authority responded to a report of a vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash on Kietzke Lane north of Gentry Way. The pedestrian was not in a marked crosswalk, an RPD statement said. The vehicle involved in the incident fled after the crash, although several witnesses remained on scene, RPD said.
The pedestrian, whose identity has been withheld pending notification of next of kin, was transported to a nearby hospital where he died.
Sunday, Oct. 8
At 12:26 a.m., local fire, police and REMSA responded to a report of a vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash near the intersection of 2nd and Ralston streets. The investigation found that two pedestrians were struck in the incident. One was transported to a nearby hospital with severe injuries while the second received minor injuries and was not transported by medical personnel. The vehicle involved in the incident fled after the crash, although several witnesses remained on scene, RPD said.
Later that day, personnel from RPD, RFD and REMSA responded at 8:20 p.m. to a report of a vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash on East 2nd Street near the intersection with Colony Road. Medical personnel declared the pedestrian dead on the scene, according to an RPD release. Police say the incident likely involved two striking vehicles, both of which fled the scene. Several witnesses remained on site, however.
The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
