Allen Wallace Dunn

-

RENO - Allen passed away peacefully on December 5, 2023. He had just had his 89th birthday, or as he would say, he was starting his 90th year. He was raised in St Paul, Mn and his enthusiasm for life started early on with the love for the north woods of Minnesota, his grandparent’s ranch in South Dakota and his love for sports. Specifically, baseball and hockey. Allen attended Breck, a college preparatory and military academy in St Paul Minnesota, where today he is listed in the Hall of Fame. His determination ultimately led him to Standford University to focus on baseball, which was cut short due to an injury. Upon graduating Allen set his sights on a relatively new industry of television broadcasting. After positions in California, New York and Las Vegas, Allen made Reno his home. In 1960 he married Pam and they started their life together in Hidden Valley, where they raised their children and lived happily for 34 years.

In 1964 he founded Sheep Dip, an annual satirical production that was an annual event for 55 years.

After many years of television and radio broadcasting he changed his career path to Advertising and Marketing. Hence, MPR Inc was formed. The company, ultimately, known as Dunn Reber Glenn Marz grew to the largest advertising and marketing firm in Nevada.

The broadcast industry brought him to a quick yet passionate hobby, piloting his King Air Aircraft. Allen was interested in flying at an early age and having his pilot’s license and his King Air he was able to fly clients to their destinations and take family on special occasions.

All the while, he always made time for camping and vacations with his family and water fowl hunting in Nevada and Minnesota with his brother, Noel and close friends.

After a full and successful career in the business world, Allen wanted a change. What a better way to then follow his passion; a new career in Landscape Design. This second career eventually took him to the door of his future wife, Jean. With a new career and starting a new life with Jean his enthusiasm for life and love continued. He worked passionately designing and managing the installation of new landscape for clients, while fulfilling the need to be in nature. And again, he always found the time to enjoy their home and travels and spending time at their hideout in Graeagle. With hesitation, Allen retired at 80 years old. Allen was predeceased by his wife, Pam and his brother, Nick. He is survived by his wife, Jean, son David (Marni), daughter April (Mike), step-daughter Amy, brother, Noel, grandchildren Grace, Jay, Gabby, Jack, Joey, Jim, Gabe and Sami, and many extended family members and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
