RENO - Corinne Capurro Guio (70), passed away very peacefully on May 2nd, 2024, with her family around her.

She was born and raised in Reno, Nevada in a big Italian family. Her parents were Louis and Genevieve Capurro (both deceased). She had two brothers, Allen and Randy (deceased) Capurro. She loved being their little sister and always looked up to her brothers. Corinne would love telling stories and sharing memories of her childhood growing up on, “the ranch” on Longley Lane.

As a child she was very involved in 4-H and raised many lambs throughout the years. Corinne was so enthusiastic about the Nevada Junior Livestock Show and 4-H that she continued the tradition with her own kids and loved sharing it with her nieces and nephews.

Corinne graduated from Bishop Manogue Catholic High School in 1971. She always took pride in being a Manogue Miner. She attended the University of Nevada, Reno for a short time after high school and enjoyed going to Honey Lake with her parents. This is where she met her husband, Bill Guio. Bill and Corinne would have been married 50 years this November. They have two children, Heather (Parks) Guio and Tom Guio. She also had two granddaughters Mia and Brieanna whom she loved very much. Being a wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and great aunt gave her great joy, everyone in her family had a special place in her heart!

Corinne loved fishing in California and Oregon for steelhead and salmon with Bill and several friends. She loved cooking, travelling and reading books. Her favorite time of year was when the whole family got together to make homemade raviolis from the family recipe handed down for many generations. She also enjoyed the rodeo and taking her family to the National

Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas every year. This was a good excuse to visit with her friends and family in Las Vegas as well.

Corinne was very giving of her time and loved volunteering to help others. Shortly after attending the University of Nevada, Reno she helped out at St. Mary’s Hospital as a “Pink Lady”, following in the footsteps of her mother. Another thing she took great pride in was being a member of the Reno Emblem Club #372. This was also something she did with her mother. Corinne held most offices in the local club and was president many times. She was also very involved in the California Nevada Hawaii State Association of Emblem Clubs and held many offices. She had the honor of being the state marshal and travelled with the state president throughout California and Nevada. On top of all this she was also very active in the National Emblem Club, holding many offices over her lifetime. Corinne was very devoted to Emblem.

Corinne enjoyed her adventures with Bill in their jeeps, finding new and beautiful places to enjoy in the back country. She loved talking to people and always made a new friend everywhere she went. She had funny little comments and sayings that would make people laugh. Corinne always had a positive outlook on life and will be missed by many.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 23rd at 10:30a.m. at Our Lady of the Snows Church 1138 Wright St. Reno, NV 89509. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Corinne’s name to the charity of your choosing or one of Corinne’s favorite charities - The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, The Nevada Junior Livestock Show, Guiding Eyes for the Blind or you may donate to Bishop Manogue Catholic High School.
