Richmond Times-Dispatch Weekend - - SUNDAY PUNCH -

1. Washington Capitals

The Capitals won the Stanley Cup, erasing 25 years of playoff struggles by Washington teams. The Caps trailed in all four series, which is sort of how politicians in Washington do things. It wasn’t always pretty, and they took several punches along the way. But now they’ve won, and they won’t stop talking about their win.

2. Golden State Warriors

The Warriors are champs again, having won the NBA Finals for a third time in four years. The most talented team won, and it wasn’t that surprising or dramatic. Maybe it’s time the Golden State Warriors be declared a monopoly and broken into pieces.

3. Tank Tops

Following a bizarre series of events where a tank-like vehicle was chased down Broad Street, the Richmond Flying Squirrels conceived of a brilliant spur-ofthe-moment marketing campaign. They offered 25 percent off all Squirrels-brand tank tops for one day only. This is called seizing every opportunity.

4. Young vs. old

The Richmond Women’s City Amateur golf tournament featured a final round featured 64-year-old Boodie McGurn vs. 14-year-old Ester Choi. Experience prevailed, and McGurn claimed the title. Here’s a good example of two athletes not acting their age.
