Kim grabs share of LPGA lead with Herbin
Sei Young Kim birdied seven of her last 10 holes for a share of the lead with Celine Herbin in the suspended second round of the Shop-Rite LPGA in Galloway, N.J.
Kim was 10 under for the tournament with three holes left when play was suspended because of darkness.
Herbin had her second straight 5-under 66.
♦ Kristen Gillman won two more matches and the United States opened a 9-3 lead over Britain and Ireland in the Curtis Cup at Quaker Ridge in Scarsdale, N.Y. Gillman, the 20-year-old University of Alabama star from Austin, Texas, improved to 4-0 and helped the Americans move within 1½ points of regaining the cup they lost in 2016 at Dun Laoghaire in Ireland. The U.S. leads the series 28-8-3.
♦ Amy Ellertson of Farmington Country Club and Natalie Easterly of the Country Club of Virginia, who won the title in 2016 and 2017, posted a bogey-free, 7-under-par 65 to take an eight-stroke lead after the first round of the senior division in the VSGA Women’s Four-Ball Championship at Ford’s Colony in Williamsburg. Reigning VSGA Women’s Amateur champion Lauren Greenlief (International CC) and partner Shabril Derco hold a two-stroke lead after shooting a 7-under 65 in the championship division. Trailing Ellertson and Easterly are last year’s runners-up and CCV mates Boodie McGurn and Lindsay
Wortham. The pair carded a 73.
