Woman fa­tally shot in Rich­mond lived in Louisa

A woman found fa­tally shot in a ve­hi­cle with her chil­dren in the back seat Fri­day night in South Rich­mond has been iden­ti­fied as a 21-year-old res­i­dent of Louisa County, po­lice said.

Sherece Cook, who lived in the 100 block of Pine Ridge Drive in Louisa, was pro­nounced dead at the scene af­ter po­lice dis­cov­ered her about

9:23 p.m. in­side an SUV in the mid­dle of the street in the 3900 block of Pey­ton Av­enue, just south­east of the Mid­loth­ian Vil­lage Apart­ments.

Cook was found sit­ting in the driver’s seat, po­lice said. She had been shot.

Two of Cook’s chil­dren, both un­der the age of 3, were found un­harmed sit­ting in the back seat of the ve­hi­cle, po­lice said.
