Northam declares state of emergency ahead of storm
Gov. Ralph Northam declared a state of emergency Saturday evening in anticipation of downed trees, power outages and roadway problems caused by snow and ice in Virginia.
The executive order is designed to help Virginia alleviate any damage caused by the winter storm and to streamline the process that the commonwealth uses to provide assistance to localities and communities.
“Virginians should take precautions to stay safe as we begin experiencing winter weather effects,” Northam said.
