17-year-old and 20-year-old are charged in con­nec­tion with North Side homi­cide

Two peo­ple have been charged in con­nec­tion with a homi­cide last week in North Rich­mond.

Oc­tavis Green, 17, was ar­rested Tues­day and charged with first-de­gree mur­der, rob­bery and two counts of use of a firearm in the com­mis­sion of a felony. Po­lice said he had no cur­rent ad­dress.

Ni­cholas L. Thomas, 20, of the 4300 block of North Av­enue, was also ar­rested Tues­day and charged with con­spir­acy to com­mit mur­der and use of a firearm in the com­mis­sion of a felony.

Rich­mond po­lice said ad­di­tional charges were pend­ing.

Just be­fore 2 a.m. on Fri­day, po­lice were called to the 3100 block of Alvis Av­enue. Of­fi­cers found Rus­sell J. Long, 22, in the road­way suf­fer­ing from a gun­shot wound. Long, who lived in the 1300 block of Green­moss Drive, was taken to a hospi­tal, where he died.
