Reisen­weaver wins RGA Se­nior ti­tle

Mid­loth­ian’s Scott Reisen­weaver drained a 9-foot left-to-right break­ing birdie putt at the par-4 ninth hole to claim the rain-short­ened 62nd Rich­mond Golf As­so­ci­a­tion Se­nior Championship at Sal­is­bury Coun­try Club.

The tour­na­ment’s fi­nal day was cut to a nine-hole round be­cause of rain.

Reisen­weaver held the overnight lead fol­low­ing a 6-un­der 66 on Tues­day. He fin­ished with a 7-un­der 108 ag­gre­gate in the event that was con­ducted at 27 holes.

Sal­is­bury mem­ber Pat Gre­gory won the su­per se­niors ti­tle, shoot­ing 1-un­der 35 in the fi­nal round (106).

The Rich­mond Fly­ing Squir­rels’ road game against the Al­toona Curve was post­poned be­cause of rain. The game will be made up as part of a dou­ble­header on Aug. 25. The Squir­rels re­turn to The Di­a­mond on Thurs­day to be­gin a four-game series against Har­ris­burg.

This sum­mer’s The Bas­ket­ball Tour­na­ment South Re­gional in Rich­mond will have a change in venue. There is now a con­tract in place to hold the event July 14-15 at the Siegel Cen­ter. The games were orig­i­nally sched­uled to be played at the Arthur Ashe Cen­ter. The move was first re­ported by NBC-12’s Marc Davis. TBT is a 72-team tour­na­ment that fea­tures many former col­lege play­ers. The win­ning team is awarded $2 mil­lion.


Over­all leader Si­mon Yates gained a few more sec­onds on clos­est ri­val Tom Du­moulin by win­ning the 11th stage of the Giro d’Italia in Osimo. Du­moulin was two sec­onds be­hind Yates, now leads Du­moulin by 47 sec­onds in the over­all stand­ings.
