Reisenweaver wins RGA Senior title
Midlothian’s Scott Reisenweaver drained a 9-foot left-to-right breaking birdie putt at the par-4 ninth hole to claim the rain-shortened 62nd Richmond Golf Association Senior Championship at Salisbury Country Club.
The tournament’s final day was cut to a nine-hole round because of rain.
Reisenweaver held the overnight lead following a 6-under 66 on Tuesday. He finished with a 7-under 108 aggregate in the event that was conducted at 27 holes.
Salisbury member Pat Gregory won the super seniors title, shooting 1-under 35 in the final round (106).
The Richmond Flying Squirrels’ road game against the Altoona Curve was postponed because of rain. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Aug. 25. The Squirrels return to The Diamond on Thursday to begin a four-game series against Harrisburg.
This summer’s The Basketball Tournament South Regional in Richmond will have a change in venue. There is now a contract in place to hold the event July 14-15 at the Siegel Center. The games were originally scheduled to be played at the Arthur Ashe Center. The move was first reported by NBC-12’s Marc Davis. TBT is a 72-team tournament that features many former college players. The winning team is awarded $2 million.
Overall leader Simon Yates gained a few more seconds on closest rival Tom Dumoulin by winning the 11th stage of the Giro d’Italia in Osimo. Dumoulin was two seconds behind Yates, now leads Dumoulin by 47 seconds in the overall standings.
