69, of Mid­loth­ian, Vir­ginia, passed away on Wed­nes­day, Novem­ber 7, 2018, af­ter a long and coura­geous bat­tle with can­cer. She was pre­ceded in death by her mother and fa­ther, Jean and Gor­don May­nard; and her niece, Han­nah Ger­sh­man. She is sur­vived by her hus­band, Ed; and sis­ter, Hazel Ger­sh­man Ball (Hardy). She is also sur­vived by her niece, Sammy Jean Ger­sh­man Lan­dolt (Scott) and their daugh­ter, Vi­vian, who Sandy adored. She is fur­ther sur­vived by sev­eral aunts and nu­mer­ous cousins. Sandy loved her two lit­tle dogs, Phoebe and Jewel. Her love of art and flair for cre­ativ­ity showed in all she did. Sandy grad­u­ated from Fer­rum Col­lege and MCV School of Ra­di­ol­ogy. She worked at MCV, Rich­mond Met­ro­pol­i­tan and Rich­mond Me­mo­rial Hospi­tals. The fam­ily will re­ceive friends from 3 to 7 p.m. Fri­day, Novem­ber 9, at the Cen­tral Chapel of Ben­nett Fu­neral Home, 3215 Cut­shaw Av­enue. A grave­side ser­vice will be held at 10 a.m. Satur­day, Novem­ber 10, in Hol­ly­wood Ceme­tery. Thank you to Pam Walker and Sandy’s other care­givers at The Guest House, as well as the doc­tors and nurses of Sarah Can­non Can­cer In­sti­tute at John­ston-Wil­lis Hos­pi­tal.
