She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 25 years, Richard "Birdie" Birdsong; and a brother, Louis "Bubba" Lane. Linda is survived by a sister, Betty Barker (Sonny); brother-in-law, Jerry Birdsong ( Fran); and sister- in- law, JoAnn Atkins; a devoted niece and caregiver, Sheila Gates (Eddie); several nieces and nephews, David Barker, Dana Barker, Rian Lane ( Betsey), Jeffrey Lane (Angie) and Casey Lane (Tommy); a special friend, Audrey Seay; her other caregiver, Linda Brickhouse; and many other family and friends. Linda was a hair stylist for over 50 years. She was a member of the Women of the Moose. She enjoyed gardening and camping. Linda was a devoted caregiver for many loved ones over the years. The family will receive friends from 12: 30 to 2 p. m. on Friday, November 27, 2020, at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Parkway, Mechanicsv­ille, Va. 23111. A procession will follow to Signal Hill Memorial Park for a graveside service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. She was educated in Richmond Public Schools, a graduate of Armstrong High, then when on to cosmetolog­y and nursing school. She was baptized at an early age at Ebenezer Baptist Church. A pillar in her community and loved by all. Mary was a matriarchs­he spoke what was on her mind, danced to her own drum beat and loved to entertain. Preceded in death by her sisters, Anne, Christine; and brother, Arthur Jr. She will forever be remembered honored and affectiona­tely held dear by her three daughters, Delores, Jacqueline, Patricia; and stepson, Calvin; one son- inlaw, Pastor Taylor; and one daughter- in- law, Euginia. In addition to her children, she leaves to cherish her memory grandchild­ren, Mahagany (John), Angela ( Mike), John Jr., Kriston and Stephon; nieces and nephews, Sheila ( Nelson), Rita, Karen ( Anthony Sr.), Keith (Nadine), Junius and Moses; and a host of greatniece­s, nephews and many friends. Mary was born April 11, 1943 in Wingina, Nelson County, to the late Luther and Ruby Robertson. She was the widow of Gene E. Brown. Mary is survived by one brother, Luther "Jack" Robertson and wife, Diana, of Tappahanno­ck; two sisters, Carolyn R. Oates of Goochland and Lucille R. Robertson of Wingina; two nephews, Keith Robertson and wife, Page, of Tappahanno­ck and Christophe­r Mays of Wingina; a niece, Dr. Tanya L. Mays of Concord, North Carolina; three greatnephe­ws, Jonathan Schmidt, Evan Robertson and Matt Ramsey; and one great- great- niece, Ellayna Ramsey. Mary was a lifetime member of Bethany United Methodist Church of Norwood. Mary retired from CSX Railroad in Richmond, after many years of service. She also worked at Westvaco. Graveside service, officiated by Pastor Hillary Evans, will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2020, at 2 p.m. in the Robertson Family Cemetery, Wingina. Prior to the service, viewing will be held from 10 a. m. until noon at the Dunkum Funeral Home, Dillwyn.
