A rare January hurricane formed in 2016

A rare January hurricane was forming in the Atlantic five years ago — the first since 1955. Tropical Storm Alex developed west of the Canary Islands, then strengthened to 85mph on Jan. 14, 2016. Alex weakened before hitting the Azores, leaving little damage.
